Vermilion (Daisuke Yamanouchi, 2022)

Visto in buona compagnia all’edizione belga del festival Cinéma Interdit.

Lo stile di Yamanouchi è cambiato molto rispetto ai film estremi che l’hanno reso famoso alla fine degli anni '90.

Grande cura per le inquadrature e per la fotografia, incastri di dettagli e piccoli elementi apparentemente slegati e privi di significati particolari che invece alla fine vanno ad incastrarsi come tessere di un puzzle e portano significato. Siamo lontani anni luce dagli eccessi gore di Kyoko vs Yuki o Muzan-e.
Il delirante e l’assurdo stanno nelle pieghe della trama, nei personaggi che vivono vittime delle loro allucinanti perversioni sessuali, nei rapporti disfunzionali che legano le persone.
Una vicenda in cui l’erotismo è al centro e si declina nelle molte direzioni in cui le insolite relazioni tra i personaggi lo indirizzano, fino ad arrivare ad un finale in cui il plot si contorce su sé stesso ingabbiando in dinamiche deleterie, in una specie di gioco al massacro, i protagonisti delle vicende sinora narrate. Tra sangue e sesso, morte e piccola morte, il cerchio si chiude portando all’esito di una soluzione inattesa che mette in gioco nuovi equilibri.

Tra le perversioni sessuali sulle quali il film mi ha edotto mi preme citare la tipa che per godere vuole essere morsa a sangue su tutto il corpo ed il tizio che avvolge di domopak le donne nude per poi raccoglierne il sudore in un biccherino e finalmente berselo alla goccia.

Mai concesso più di una fava alle schifezze di Yamanouchi ma i vostri commenti mi incuriosiscono :sweat_smile:

Curiosità : come è prassi comune, del film esiste anche una versione più corta di 70 minuti, un cut appositamente rimaneggiato (e R18+ quindi più spinto) per le sale per adulti intitolato “Lust Celebrity Wife : Dirty Scent

Oh wow, I genuinely didn’t realise there were Yamanouchi fans here, especially @Frank_n_Furter who I’ve spoken to for some years now here at GdR and I wasn’t even aware!

I have both Kyoko vs Yuki and Muzan-e on DVD somewhere in my collection - long before I collected mondo movies I was a fan of extreme cinema and underground horror.

Are these western editions? I am avare just of the two: “Red Rooms” (the only two movies I have watched) from Unearthed films.

They are not just a trite gore fest movies, in my opinion; you can find some effective irony in both (especially in the seconds, IIRC) that makes bearable the crazy stuff that happens on the screen! :smiley:

If these movies were easier to find, I would gladly have a look at them! Although the style and the subjets must have changed a lot between the beginnings and his current works: now a greater technical mastery and softer themes even if always quite weirds.

I only watched Kyoko vs Yuki on a bad medium and I disliked at all, but there were no subtitles and my memories are a bit faded, so maybe now who knows…

Let’s say that at the time of my 20s I was very excited about all things extreme, bizarre but also creative (for example, I was never a fan of extreme gore for its own sake). Certainly Yamanouchi, as well as other exponents of Japanese AV cinema at the time (such as Takao Nakano) combined extreme content with a large dose of fantasy and madness, which made their films very appealing to me. Now when I happen to see those films again, I understand what the elements were that made them so intriguing to me but they no longer have the same effect on me…
